Wolfgang Rack

PhD

Glaciologist

University of Canterbury

Associate Professor Wolfgang Rack studies the mass balance of the polar cryosphere focusing on how the sea ice, ocean and ice shelf interact. He has pioneered the satellite-based measurement of grounding line ice thickness in Antarctica.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Wolfgang is using satellite remote sensing, along with airborne and ground-based geophysics to measure snow depth on sea ice, and sea ice thickness and motion in the Ross Sea Region.
