Ed spent his early research career looking at ice sheet behaviour and glacial history in Antarctica. He then moved into science funding management and worked as the Manager of Antarctic Science for Antarctica New Zealand. During this time, he led the process for developing New Zealand’s Antarctic and Southern Ocean science strategy.
He had a break away from Antarctica New Zealand but continued to work in science management, co-leading the review of the Antarctic Science Platform in 2022. He’s now back as the General Manager of Science and looking forward to re-engaging with the Antarctic science community.
