Atmosphere and Climate Science

University of Canterbury

Marwan Katurji is an atmospheric scientist with a research background in numerical modelling and observations for the study of atmospheric boundary layer dynamics. In the Antarctic Science Platform, Marwan Katurji is the Co-Principal investigator of Tiaki Whenua with a specific focus on linking weather and climate extremes to impacts across the terrestrial environment of Antarctica. This involves the atmospheric dynamics of extreme precipitation, heat waves, and mountain weather. His work will allow us to better understand the physical drivers of extreme weather events and their cascading impacts on ice melt along the terrestrial environment of the Ross Sea region.
