Professor Tim Naish’s research focuses on past, present and future climate change with specific emphasis on how the Antarctic ice sheets respond to climate change and influence global sea level.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Tim’s research focus is on reconstructing past Antarctic ice sheet dynamics using geological data integrated with numerical models.

He holds leadership positions in the World Climate Research Program and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research; he is also co-leader for the MBIE Endeavour-funded NZ SeaRise research programme. Tim previously served as our Programme 1 Leader: Ocean-Ice-Atmosphere, and in 2019 won the Prime Minister's Science Prize as part of the Melting Ice and Rising Seas team.
