Professor Andrew Gorman is a controlled source seismologist with a research background in seismic data acquisition and processing on land, at sea, and over ice. His Antarctic experience has primarily involved using seismic and gravity methods to better understand the sedimentary basins underlying the Ross Ice Shelf and how they have been developed and modified through glacial processes.
In the Antarctic Science Platform, Andrew is using high-resolution seismic methods to better understand both the present-day detail of the seafloor underlying the Ross Ice Shelf and the development of sedimentary basins underlying the seafloor. This links past geological and glacial processes recorded in the sedimentary record to present-day geological and oceanographic processes that are being affected by changing climate.
