Andrew Pauling

PhD

Climate Modeler

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington

Andrew is a climate modeler with a research background in modelling sea ice and polar climate.

He has worked on modelling many different aspects of the polar regions including the impact of Antarctic meltwater on sea ice and climate, the impacts of changes in Antarctic ice sheet topography, and the influence of volcanic eruptions on polar climate.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Andrew is working on understanding feedbacks between meltwater entering the Southern Ocean from the Antarctic ice sheet and precipitation over the Antarctic continent. Understanding this potential feedback is important for understanding the past and future Antarctic contribution to sea level rise.
