Professor Dame Jane Francis is a Fellow of the Royal Society and Director of the British Antarctic Survey. She was previously Professor of Palaeoclimatology and Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Leeds, UK, and is a recipient of the UK Polar Medal. Her principal research interests focus on understanding past climate change during greenhouse and icehouse periods in the geological past, in both the Arctic and Antarctica.
