Gert-Jan Jeunen

PhD, MAC3 Antarctic Fellow

Molecular Ecologist / Bioinformatician

University of Otago

Early Career Researcher

Dr Gert-Jan Jeunen focuses on using environmental DNA (eDNA) for marine biodiversity monitoring. He is developing innovative eDNA sampling approaches to enable large-scale biomonitoring in remote regions, as well as novel software applications to improve upon the analysis of amplicon-based sequencing data.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Gert-Jan investigates contemporary and historical environmental DNA in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica to determine how anthropogenic impacts are modifying our oceans.
