Sea-ice physicist

University of Otago

Professor Inga Smith is a sea-ice physicist whose research focus is ice-ocean interactions. In the Antarctic Science Platform, Inga’s research is on measuring and modelling sea ice growth and decay in regions influenced by fresher water, e.g., from ice shelves. In warmer and higher CO2 conditions, this research contributes to finding critical thresholds for sea ice survival, as well as explaining recent changes.
