Mary Sewell

PhD

Zoologist

University of Auckland

Professor Mary Sewell’s research focuses on reproduction and early development of marine invertebrates, with a focus on echinoderms. She uses a range of classical and genomic tools to investigate meroplanktonic community dynamics.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Mary will examine how marine organisms achieve successful reproduction in Antarctic environments, and how external factors such as temperature, salinity and anthropogenic climate change affect reproduction, and larval development and dispersal.
