Olivia Truax

PhD

Climate scientist

University of Canterbury

Olivia is a climate scientist who studies the drivers of ice sheet change over long timescales. Drawing on marine sediment records, ice cores, and climate models, her research reconstructs how Antarctica's ice sheets and the Southern Ocean respond to a warming climate on timescales of decades to millennia.

In the Antarctic Science Platform, Olivia is investigating the feedbacks between warming, ice sheet loss, and the climate consequences of meltwater. Her work integrates new proxy records with climate modelling to better predict how the Antarctic ice sheets will respond to future warming.
