Dr Alena Malyarenko is an ocean model developer. Her research includes ice shelf-ocean interactions in the boundary layer and atmosphere-sea ice- ocean- ice shelf coupled model development, focusing on the Ross Ice Shelf Cavity.
In the Antarctic Science Platform, Alena is continuing to improve P-SKRIPS model for the Ross Sea, and using it to understand the state of the Ross Sea in the future. What will happen when warm waters intrude the Ross Ice Shelf cavity? Hopefully, we will only see this scenario in the model results, and not in the real world!
