Charlie is a microbiologist with an extensive track record in molecular biology, genomics, remote sensing, and data science. He has worked on Antarctic research for more than 15 years (with nearly as many visits to the continent), and he co-led the ecosystems flagship programme during Antarctic Science Platform’s first phase (i.e., ASP Project 3). His research activities in Phase 2 of ASP cross environmental and disciplinary boundaries to apply cutting-edge technology and techniques to address dynamic yet poorly understood elements of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
