With a joint position at the University of Auckland (Professor) and ESNZ (Principal Scientist), Craig’s research focuses on the drivers and influences of mixing in the stratified ocean - a topic of vital importance with increasing ocean heat content. He has participated in a number of ice shelf field campaigns and led Phase One ASP voyage work. As part of Phase Two of the ASP he leads the Ice Shelf Cavity Hoe. He is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Southern Ocean Observing System (SOOS) and has a high science communication profile.
