Professor Dave Prior is a structural geologist with a research background in mechanics and microstructure of crystalline materials to understand deformation processes. I use laboratory experiments, natural ice samples and geophysical data to understand how ice deforms.
In the Antarctic Science Platform, Dave is conducting laboratory deformation experiments on natural ice samples, to provide better mathematical descriptions of ice deformation that will make predictions from ice sheet models more robust.
