Delane is a proud raukura (graduate) of Kōhanga Reo and Kura Kaupapa Māori which has instilled within him the mātāpono (values) of Te Aho Matua. He is passionate about supporting opportunities for rangatahi māori to grow and flourish in different spaces. Delane has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in both Te Reo Māori and Māori indigenous studies from Canterbury University.
He brings a wealth of knowledge in terms of mātauranga Māori and spent time as a qualitative researcher alongside Tokona Te Raki. He has spent time working for his iwi in different capacities and just finished 2-year stint in the public sector as an advisor for the Department of Internal Affairs.
He is excited to fill the role of Kaiārahi rangahau Māori, working alongside the Kāhui Māori to encourage, grow and enhance mātauranga Māori research between Māori and Antarctic scientists.
