Enrique Pardo is a Senior Marine Science Advisor at New Zealand’s Department of Conservation, with over 20 years’ experience working across the public, private, and non-governmental sectors, delivering applied science and strategic advice to support marine conservation and ecosystem-based management.

He leads New Zealand’s scientific engagement in the review of the Ross Sea region Marine Protected Area (RSrMPA) and contributes to the development of additional marine protected area proposals and broader Southern Ocean conservation and climate change initiatives. He co-convened the CCAMLR Climate Change Workshop in 2023. Enrique’s expertise spans marine spatial planning, benthic habitat mapping, and translating complex science into practical decision-making in the Antarctic and New Zealand marine environments.
