Dr. Skye Davis is a postdoctoral researcher interested in how emerging genomic tools can be used to improve the conservation of seabirds living in challenging and dynamic ecosystems. In the Antarctic Science Platform, Skye is using whole-genome sequencing data to study the population structure of emperor penguins in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, as part of an assessment of the effectiveness of the Ross Sea Marine Protected Area. Understanding the genetic connectivity and health of emperor penguin populations is essential for predicting how Mesopredator species will respond to environmental change in the future.
