A position paper for the Antarctic Science Platform’s mid-term review
Date: 2022
Type: Update
Summary: To support the Platform’s mid-term review, in early 2022 the ISP assessed the performance of the Platform to date, the research activities planned for the remainder of the current contract, and what a second tranche of funding should consider.
Summary: Updates from our teams on the field, research highlights from 2021/22, and save the date for the New Zealand – Australia Antarctic Science Conference 2023.
Summary: New Zealand is one of 12 original signatories to the Antarctic Treaty (signed in 1959), and these annual international meetings are a key target for the Platform’s research data, findings and new understandings.
Summary: The Antarctic Science Platform is collaborating across New Zealand and with other nations to share and deploy resources into Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.
Summary: To understand what Antarctic ecosystems may look like in a warming world, it’s critical to first comprehensively understand the current-day biodiversity and biogeography.
Summary: Antarctic Ice Sheet has the greatest potential to significantly raise sea levels and disrupt global ocean circulation. A team of researchers are working to better understand what the future may hold. These are some highlights from 2021/22.
